AND SHALL CLEAVE TO HIS WIFE
There are a lot of things
You actually need to leave behind
To be able to cleave to the wife of your youth
Many marriages are shaking today
Because both spouses never left a lot of things
They hold on to traditions
Principles, ideas and opinions of men
That has yielded no better results
There are some characters within you
That you know needs to be dealt with
Behaviors that can harm your union
Going into marriage will require you
To leave all of them behind
CLEAVE TO YOUR WIFE
One of the major attacks on the Church today
Are men cleaving to someone other than their wives
And it’s a sad story to see even the clergy
Cut by the arrow of adultery
Many women find it difficult to stick to their spouses
Single Parents are on the increase today
Not because the other is dead
But because they cannot cleave together
If only we will invest in cleaving to each other
Many societal disasters today will be avoided
WHAT CLEAVING ENTAILS
1. Love
Where no love is there the fire goes out
Many people based their reasons for love
On looks, beauty, material possession
And the mundane that can fade away
When those things are no more
Their love will fade away too
2. Commitment
Love alone cannot sustain a marriage
Commitment to keep the fire of love burning
That is what makes it last
When your commitment is strong
It breaks the back bones of temptations
And frustrations as it may be
Commitment moves you beyond feelings
Because when the feelings are no more there
Commitment keeps you glued to your wife
3. Work
Work is the fuel that powers commitment
Behind everything that works
Is someone that is not sleeping
It takes a lot of work to sustain marriage
Doing whatever it takes to stay glued together
Requires love, commitment and lot of work
Things to work at to strengthen your togetherness
When you are closer to someone else
Other than your spouse
You are already making way
For adultery without knowing
A lot of people have fallen prey to that
They have slept with people not their spouse
They only reap the fruits of the seed they sowed
By not checking their closeness
I use to tell singles who I do counsel
Except you are lying to yourself
You will know when your closeness
With someone is becoming unsafe
Many things will try to take that place
But it is your duty to work at it
That your job, business, children, family
And others things should not push your spouse below
You are enjoined to cleave to your wife
Not somebody’s wife, not your friend
Not your job or business
That verse tells us to make our spouses
Priority number one then others may follow
It will surprise you to know the rate
At which unfaithfulness is eating deep into families
Even the so called Christian families
I had an experience that is not worth sharing
It only reveals the decadence of our Christian homes
Faithfulness in cleaving to our spouse has no option
The price of unfaithfulness is high to pay
The generation after you will still be paying for it

Five minutes pleasure did to his family
Marriage covenant has being
Massively neglected in this generation
There are gross unfaithfulness at its peak
In offices, corporate world and even Churches
If everyone will cleave to their spouses
Be committed and work at it
This world will feel the impact
Until you leave behind you
All your unfaithful life style
You cannot know the pleasure
Peace and power of cleaving to your spouse
Not to talk about being one with one another
Leave that you may cleave
And cleave that you may be one
