DON’T LOSE WHO YOU ARE
It was on a long trip to adventure
Everyone was excited to partake in the voyage
The news of the visit moved around amidst the students
And most were set to catch much fun
And to take enough selfies to nail the memories
10 hours straight with few stops on the way
They finally got to the dream land
The birth place of the world renown
Santa Claus of Finland
With much fun and excitement
Toward the twilight of the day
These two beauties roll out for more fun
And while riding down the hill on snow
The hit occurred and
They were both thrown on the snow
One of them got up but the other could not
While the ambulance blazed to the hospital
She was left alone in the ride
Far away from her friends and buddies
Many thoughts ran through her mind
But no one could tell what they were
As the news got around
My hear tingle with surprise
And my heart sigh what is this?
The first question I asked was
Would she ever walk again?
Why I rode to her Hospital
I rehearsed how to console her
I searched for such kind words
That can encourage someone
Whose vertebra had broken and operated
As we walked to her room
Was sober and didn’t know what to expect
But as we approached her bed
She welcomed us
With the same smile she had on
The first day she entered the class
As she came for exchange course
Here in Seinäjoki from France
It was the same pleasant expression
She always had on when you are with her
And all my worries disappear
Yet I wonder how she could be happy
With the accident that had happen to her
My curiosity led me to asked her
Few weeks after her discharged from the hospital
“What were you thinking inside the ambulance?”
And she said to me
“I was thinking many things
About my family, friends and
About how my fun ended this way”
Then I asked if she was ever discouraged
She said “No, even though I feel lonely sometimes”
But later that day I chatted her
And asked what keep her happy all through?
And her reply was
“It is my character
It is who I am”
So the moral of this story is:
Don't lose your character
To your circumstances
Don’t lose who you are
To your circumstances
Don’t lose who you are
To the stuff that you are going through
She had her share of loneliness
Had her share of pain and difficulties
Yet she never lose her gladness
So whoever you are
And whatever you might be going through now
Be strong and don’t lose your joy
The dark days are only temporary
And this too shall pass.
