THERE IS NO FUTURE IN THE PAST

Sometimes ago when I was in the High Institution
There was a sudden increase in our school fees
And many people start lamenting of the hike
But what touched me most was
When I saw a young man of my name sake
Crying profusely at the school entrance
Because he just received a call
That his Dad is dead from a car accident
And therefore he is asked to drop out of school
As no one can afford to foot his current school bill
He prepare himself to leave the school environment
After the unfortunate sad news

He lost his Dad and he pause his education

This is just one out of several situations
Where people got halt because they lost one thing or the other
I also almost gave up when I lost my Parents too
I thought that was the end when I saw my Dad buried
Everything stood still when I lost the two of them

But God gave me a revelation that jumpstart me
One interesting story happen in the Scripture

“And Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway
And when the man saw that all the people stood still
He removed Amasa out of the highway into the field
And cast a cloth upon him when he saw
That everyone that came by him stood still
And when he was removed out of the highway
All the people went on… 2Sam.2012-13”

It was this scripture that took me from
Mourning my circumstances to making meaning out of it

Amasa means ‘burden’
I saw a translation that call him ‘weight lifter’

No wonder
Everyone that came to where Amasa died stood still
They halt their movement
They stop going ahead with their plan
Because their burden lifter is dead

Many people have ended their lives
Because they lost their burden bearer
They witnessed their Amasa buried
And everything about them stood still

But I got courage to move on
When I saw that gazing at my Amasa
Will impede my movement and ruin my future

Your Amasa may be your job
May be you got sack and you think
That is the end of your life
Your finances stood still
Because no monthly pay again

Or it may be a relationship
Your spouse left you
And you are greatly discouraged
You felt betrayed
And you shut your heart
From loving again

Or your business
You venture into a new terrain of opportunity
You invest heavily into it
And gbam!
It came crashing down
As it went the other way
Contrary to your expectation

Though losing a support giver is had to bear
But it is not enough an excuse to stop living again

Please know that no one dwells in the past
And expect tomorrow to deliver to him
Because no one keeps looking back
That ever moves forward

There is no future in the past
No matter what it may be
You are fashioned to overcome

Mephibosheth lost his Amasa
He lost his Father and grand father
And he also lost his legs to that event
Then he left off to Lodebar
A place of no hope
